2013年1月、ロサンゼルスの Cecil Hotel に滞在していた21歳の観光客(Tourist)、エリサ・ラム(Elisa Lam) は、行方不明から2週間後、ホテルの貯水槽の中から遺体で発見された。

このホテルは、過去に一件の殺人、三件の自殺があった場所だったとかで、彷徨う何かが宿泊客のいちばん集まるエレベーターの前に立っているのかもしれない、
エリサさんを頼ってきたのかも？

奇妙な偶然だが、ホテルから近い場所では、｢LAM-ELISA｣という結核感染診断法試験が行われていたし、死から半年後には彼女のブログが更新されてもいる、その死はミステリー塗れだ。
