涼しい写真(10)「お前と出掛けるのは久しぶりだ」【It's a long time to go out with you】 : 13SHOE・高野十座のブログ

「カラー写真の女性は、私の祖母です」と、彼女は言います。
「心が弱り始めて、自身の安全のため、アシステッドリビングホーム(assisted living home) に移されなければなりませんでした。彼女は94歳まで独りで生きました。
最初の週末に、居住者と彼らの家族のためにピクニックがありました。母と姉妹が出席しました。
私の姉妹は、2枚の写真をその日撮影しました、そして、これはそのうちの一枚です。
それは日曜日（8/17/97）に撮られました、そして、我々は彼女の後方の男性が（8/14/84）日曜日に他界した私の祖父であると思います。
我々は2000年のクリスマス（おばあちゃんは亡くなっていたので、）まで写真の中の男性に気がつきませんでした。
その一方で、私の両親の家で若干の緩やかな(loose) 家族写真を、通して閲覧していました。
私の妹は、彼女もお母さんのためにコピーしたおばあちゃんの素敵な写真だと思っていたのですが、それでも、3年以上の間誰も彼女の後ろの男性に気が付きませんでした！
私が両親の家に着いたそのクリスマスの日、私の妹は私に写真を手渡してこう言いました。

「おばあちゃんの後ろのこの男性、誰だと思う？」
それを考えるのには数秒を要しました。私は全く言葉が出ません(absolutely speechless)でした。

大切なのはお墓じゃないよ、元気なうちにどれだけ多く愛する人を態度で思い遣れるか、ハッキリと愛していると伝えられるか、

おばあちゃんは、最後の方は記憶も曖昧になったかもしれないけど、それはきっと知らずに済んだ方が好いことと正比例の現実、

今は間違いなく、お祖父ちゃんと天国で仲良くやってる、

この写真の時、お祖父ちゃんはおばあちゃんにこんな約束をしたんだよ、きっと、

「もうそろそろ、こっちで一緒に暮らさないか？」
「あらやだ、それはプロポーズですか？」
