ヨーロッパの海において他に類がない怪物。
シェルブールで、波に破壊される前のカーカス写真と大きさ(Measurements)、細い(Fine) 毛で覆われたざっとラクダのそれのような頭。

Querqueville(仏、ケルクヴィル) の陸に漂着したあり得ない(Nothing) 海の怪物を、土地(world) の、ここから2マイル離れた西の地域(part) で見たことがありました(has ever been seen)。
発見された時、海の怪物の記事と一致したことは(had been in)、無傷(in one piece)、でした。
しかし波とスカベンジャー(scavengers=掃除人) の行動は、すぐにいくつかの小片(pieces) に死体をばらばらに(broke)しました。
しかし、その間に撮影と、暫定的に測定されました。
生きものは、25フィート(7.62m) を測り(measured)ました。
皮膚は青っぽい灰色で、白い毛で覆われていました。尾とヒレは、同じ毛で包まれて(covering) いましたが、加えて(addition)、象のそれに似た豚髭(bristles) の様だと描写(described) されました。
前日に見られたアザラシ(seal) が、そのように尾は二股に分岐(bifurcated) していましたが、はるかに大きく、非常に強力でした。
肩の2つの横のヒレ(Two lateral fins at the shoulder) は、ほとんど櫂(パドル) のように見える形をしていました(seemed almost paddle shaped)。
また、クリーチャーには背びれがありました。
最も注目に値したことは、ほっそりとした(slightly) 長さ3フィート(0.9144m)以上ある首でした。
そして、クジラ(whales) の種類から間違いなく(definitely) モンスターと分類(putting) しました。
記事(article) の詳細は、肝臓が長さおよそ15フィート(4.57200m) であったという事実を含みます。

クリーチャーを検査した教授 Corbiere は、それはそこに漂着した、確かに(certainly) その種の最初の生物であると述べました。

彼は、それらが一般的に首を持っていないにもかかわらず、hyperoodon(くちばし鯨) であったことを推測しました。

この時 ↑ この有名なカーカスは1970年代(たぶん)、とか書いたんたけどかなり違ってました。スマソ。

今回のソースは、NYタイムズ、1934年3月号から興してるからこのカーカスは多分これで決着。正解だと思う。
