科学者は、家猫サイズのブラジルのtigrinaの一種があり得ると思いました。

その進化の歴史は、パンパス猫と北東のtigrinas（Leopardus tigrinus）との間で古代の交雑と遺伝子の動きを含みます。
対照的に、南のtigrinas（新しくLeopardus guttulusと認められる）はジェフロアの猫と交雑し続けます。
そして、彼らの接触地帯に沿って種の間で雑種を生じる最果てのレベルに至ります。
