英全土に伝承のある黒い犬の姿をした不吉な亡霊。ブラックドッグ (Black Dog) 、黒妖犬とも呼ばれる。
ブラックドッグ達は死の予兆や死刑の執行者としてのグリム・リパー的要素を持つ。
大抵の場合、夜中に古い道や十字路に現れ、業火に焼かれた赤く光る目に、黒い体の大きな犬の姿で現れる。
