四川省で世界最大の水生昆虫発見【Aquatic insects found in Sichuan province, the world's largest】 : 13SHOE・高野十座のブログ

中国メディア・中国新聞社は２０日、四川省で世界に現存する最大の水生昆虫が発見されたと報じた。
７月中旬、同省成都市の昆虫博物館が青城後山での調査中に水生昆虫のオオキバヘビトンボの一種である「越中巨歯蛉」を発見。
同館館長が測定したところ、羽を伸ばしたときの幅（翼開長）が２１センチメートルあり、現存する世界最大の水生昆虫となった。

これまで公認されてきた世界最大翼開長の水生昆虫は、ブラジルなど中南米に生息するハビロイトトンボの仲間の１９．１センチメートルだった。

また、地球史上最大だったとされる水生昆虫のメガネウラは翼開長が７５センチメートルに達したというが、２億５０００万年前の二畳紀に絶滅した。
