そして、私はそれを見ました。そこに立てられる茂みの端に – 我々に向けられるその背中 – おそらく、私がこれまでに見た最も変な動物。
それは尾がありませんでした。そして、そのボディは強い筋肉のある後脚の後で正に弧を描き黒い斑点と茶色の鱗で覆われていました。
目盛り（動物の後ろの上に均一に置かれて、対称形の黒いパターンを作っている）は、生きものの尾が決して無かったという証明でした。
後脚 – 我々が表のものを見ることができなかったその瞬間に – それは非常に大きくて、比較的長かったです。
彼は体を高く持ち上げ、そして、全身は著しく前に曲げられました。
その体は太鼓腹で、締まりがなくて、我々に扱いにくさと無気力についての印象を与えました。
動物がちょうどその餌食を消費していたことは、明白でした。
その瞬間に、我々はより多くの何も見ることができませんでした;動物の位置と茂みの端の厚いしばは、我々がより多くを見るのを防ぎました。
噛まれた肉を割るだけであることと骨を押しつぶすことは、不可解な生きものの口は恐ろしくなければならないということを証明しました。

そんなご当地未確認動物がこの”鰐ガエル”らしい。
