少なくともこの謎の動物に表面的な類似を提供する一群の地球のカブトムシがいます。
甲虫が分類学の家族のLycidaeに属して、三葉虫カブトムシとして、正当な理由で、彼らは有名です。
大人にとって、男性は典型的な様子のカブトムシ（そのうえ、かなり小さい、およそ1cm長いだけの）（非常により大きな成人の女性（長さ最高6cm））です。

最も近いものはDuliticola属（実はボルネオのDulit山の名をとって名づけられる）のそれらです。
しかし、獣の体は釣り合ってあまりに長くて細長いです、そして、その尾角は三葉虫カブトムシの間にあって新奇です。
